The Hajee Ahmed Mahomed Lockhat Wakuff, has been involved in various welfare, social and educational upliftment programs.
Alhamdulillah, from the time of its establishment, the Trust has contributed towards the building of many Masaajid, schools and lecture rooms at Universities and technikons. To date, 20 schools have been built for the indigenous population of our country.
In 1985, the Trust established the Islamic Educational Organisation of Southern Africa which is currently specialising in the training of teachers for Madaaris, supervision of Madaaris including bi-annual examinations, and a totally integrated Pre-School Readiness Program.
In 1998, the first Girls' High School (Crescent Girls' High) promoting an Islamic ethos and affordable tuition fees was established.

Alhamdulillah! The Trust once again has taken a bold step in establishing the first Al-Azhar School in the province in conjunction with the world-renowned Al-Azhar of Egypt

.

Alhamdulillah! The School commenced in January 2000

The Trust has formed the Al-Azhar Educational Waqf which will be responsible for the running of the School.

The Al-Azhar Educational Waqf of Durban will be responsible for the preparation of the school, school equipment, the provision of educators and will ensure the implementation of the curriculum through the English language based on the South African School curriculum. The Al-Azhar School of Durban has already been registered with the Department of Education. The Al-Azhar of Egypt will provide lecturers to implement a special curriculum of the Arabic language and Islamic Studies through the Arabic medium.

The benefit of studying at the Al-Azhar School is that learners study their normal secular subjects as per the curriculum of the Department of Education and Culture of South Africa via. the English medium; while the Islamic subjects, viz. Tawhid, Tafseer, Hadith, Arabic, Fiqh, etc. will be taught via the Arabic medium by qualified personnel from the Al-Azhar of Egypt.
On completion of the Matric examinations which will be conducted under the auspices of the Department of Education and Culture of South Africa, together with the Islamic Studies certification from the Al-Azhar, students will be eligible to enter into any of the Universities, Colleges or Technikons in South Africa or the Middle East, including the Al-Azhar University of Egypt which offers courses in the study of Medicine, Engineering, Islamic Law, Da`wah, etc.
For us, it is a tremendous honour to be associated with the Al-Azhar - and we ask you to join us to share in the fruits of this project, Inshaa'Allah.

The need for education for females needs no motivation. In keeping with its vision of developing an educated Ummah, IEOSA recognised the importance of educating women. Whilst there existed many Islamic secondary schools for boys and girls in our region, there was a dire need for an all girls school. IEOSA decided to face the challenge of establishing one of the first-ever Muslim Girls College in this region. In recognising the importance of having a dynamic staff, the school put in place a rigorous recruitment campaign to ensure employment of very qualified, dedicated and committed staff. The school commenced in January 1998. The low and affordable fees are made possible through the generosity of Donors. We thank Almighty Allah that we are able to provide high standards to girls from different economic backgrounds. The school currently occupies temporary premises in Mayville, Durban. Alhumdullilah, building works have commmenced with Allah's Blessings and Mercy, we hope to have our school campus ready in January 2001.
